Overview

This position is fully responsible for the project billing process, weekly payroll processing, processing accounts payable, month end closing and reporting, union reporting, preparing certified payroll reports; in accordance with the established accounting standards, contract provisions, and company policies.

Responsibilities

§ Effectively communicate with Project Managers and other project accountants, regarding contract documents, change orders, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing, payroll, and accounts payable.

§ Prepare monthly invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup.

§ Maintain the billing folders for all projects, with all the monthly invoices and appropriate supporting documentation.

§ Enter and record vendor and subcontractor invoices into the Sage accounts payable module.

§ Administer cash disbursement and cash receipt processes.

§ Generate and distribute bi-monthly receivables reports and monthly financial statement reports.

§ Prepare weekly payroll using Sage accounting software

§ Prepare and submit various payroll tax filings and deposits.

§ Prepare monthly trade union reports

§ Work with project managers to identify monthend accruals and record accruals in SAGE accounting software

§ Perform month end closing and prepare various financial reports for company management

§ Provide support for year end audits.

Qualifications

§ Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business preferred or 10 years experience.

§ Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in word processing, spreadsheets and SAGE or Timberline accounting software.

§ Experience in accounting and payroll duties associated with the construction industry.

§ Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.

§ Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.

§ Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.

§ Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and report problems to the company management, as necessary.
